In remembrance: Rashieda Hayder

14 December 2020

Dear colleagues and students

We are filled with tremendous sadness, as we write to inform you of the death of our colleague, Mrs Rashieda Hayder (56), who served as departmental assistant in the Clinical Skills Centre. Mrs Hayder passed away on Sunday, 6 December due to natural causes.

Mrs Hayder has been part of the UCT community for almost two decades, having joined the university in June 2003. She has been described as a hard-working woman with a good sense of humour and bubbly personality. She is fondly remembered for the love she had for her family.

Mrs Hayder leaves behind her husband, Ismail and three children – Nur, Ganief and Fadwa.

Her funeral took place on Sunday, 6 December. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and worked with her.

The university has reached out to offer support to Mrs Hayder’s family and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew our late colleague.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
