In remembrance: Nomabali Tania Dinile

17 July 2020

Dear colleagues and students

It is with immense sadness that we write to inform you of the passing of Mrs Nomabali Tania Dinile (49), who passed away on Thursday, 9 July 2020 due to COVID-19. We are again devastated to lose a colleague, and more so due to the virus.

Mrs Dinile was a fieldworker at the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre’s ViDi Kids study programme at Philippi Village.

Since she joined UCT almost four years ago, she developed lasting bonds with her colleagues. Those who knew her will remember her kind, caring, humble and compassionate nature.

Mrs Dinile leaves behind her husband Michael; two daughters, Aziwe and Lelethu; and son Xola.

A memorial service was held in honour of Mrs Dinile on Wednesday, 15 July 2020 at the Chosen Nation Christian Ministries Church in Khayelitsha. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, 18 July 2020 in Komani, Eastern Cape.

The university has been in contact with the Dinile family to offer our support during their time of bereavement and we extend our sincere condolences to all who knew and loved Mrs Dinile.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
