In remembrance: Nkululeko Viteka

17 July 2020

Dear colleagues and students

It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our colleague Mr Nkululeko Viteka (38), who died at his home on Sunday, 12 July 2020 due to cancer.

Mr Viteka was a campus protection officer at upper campus. He joined UCT in 2017.

He will be remembered by colleagues as a very quiet and loving person who was dedicated to his job. He loved cracking jokes and was keen to learn more about his job. His family described him as a person who was friendly to everyone and easily accessible to those who needed help.

He is survived by his father, brother, and daughter.

Details of the funeral have not yet been finalised by the family.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Viteka family. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and all who knew him. At this time of grief, our thoughts are with them.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
