In remembrance: Lindiwe Beauty Tantata

07 July 2020

Dear colleagues and students

It is with deepest sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Mrs Lindiwe Beauty Tantata (39), who died at Tygerberg Hospital on Thursday, 2 July 2020 due to COVID-19 related complications.

Mrs Tantata was a Campus Protection Service (CPS) controller at Burnage control room on lower campus. She joined UCT in 2009.

Her colleagues will remember her as a caring person with a very affectionate personality. She built many relationships within the university community and everyone that needed assistance from CPS knew her. She had a special bond with many colleagues with whom she shared special memories. Colleagues will remember her for the love she had for her church congregation, a community whose activities she participated in fully.

Mrs Tantana is survived by her husband Sabelo Tantata, 12-year-old son Mihle, eight-year-old daughter Minathi, her mother, brother and parents-in-law.

Her funeral will be held on Sunday, 12 July in Cala in the Eastern Cape.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Tantata family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew our late colleague.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
