In remembrance: Chezlyn John Elissac

02 January 2020
Dear colleagues and students

It is with sadness that we share news of the death of Mr Chezlyn John Elissac (48), an Administrative Officer at the Department of Commercial Law. Mr Elissac died on Wednesday morning, 25 December 2019, at the Louis Leipoldt Hospital in Bellville after battling an illness for a year.

He started working at the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Lung Institute in 2000 before moving to the Faculty of Law a little more than a decade ago. He was a dear friend and valued colleague to many at UCT and will be greatly missed in the Faculty of Law. Mr Elissac will be remembered by colleagues and students for: his thoughtfulness, sense of fairness, attention to detail and the care he took in his work.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, 4 January 2020, at the Old Apostolic Church, Hercules Road, Bellville South at 9:00 and the viewing will take place at 8:45.

Mr Elissac is survived by his wife Carmenita, three daughters, three sons, his father, four brothers and one sister. The university has reached out to offer support to the Elissac family, and we convey our heartfelt condolences to them and all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this time of bereavement.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
