17 October 2019 | The UCT Executive

Dear colleagues and students

It is with great sadness that we write to inform you of the death of Mrs Rose Ockhuis (51), who passed away in a car accident in Worcester on Thursday, 3 October 2019.

Mrs Ockhuis was one of the first staff to join the South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative (SATVI) as a clinical research worker at the Worcester field site in 2003.

She was well liked and will be remembered for her calmness, humility and warm-heartedness, her beautiful smile and the special relationship she had with all her colleagues.

Mrs Ockhuis is survived by her husband, Marthinus, her daughter, Nadia, her mother, three sisters and a brother.

The funeral took place on Saturday, 12 October 2019, in Rawsonville.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Ockhuis family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew her.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
