In remembrance: Nicole Heynes

30 September 2019 | The UCT Executive

Dear colleagues and students

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our student Ms Nicole Heynes (20) on Monday, 23 September 2019, following a short illness.

Ms Heynes joined the University of Cape Town in 2018 and was studying towards a Bachelor of Social Sciences majoring in psychology and organisational psychology. She was a dedicated student who took pride in her work.

Ms Heynes will be remembered as a caring, fun-loving people’s person with a zest for life. As a determined, goal-orientated person, her passion for life and fairness shone through in all she did.

Ms Heynes is survived by her parents, Denver and Denise, and her brother, Daniel.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, 3 October, at 19:30 at Beacon Valley Evangelical Community Church on the corner of Hengelaar and Judo streets in Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain. The funeral will take place at the same venue on Saturday, 5 October, from 08:30.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Heynes family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew Ms Heynes.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
