Women’s Month at the University of Cape Town (UCT) launches on 1 August with a lecture and discussion at 13:00 by human rights activist and former MP Pregs Govender, who will address “Insubordinate Leadership” at the university’s Klaus-Jürgen Bathe Leadership (KJB) Programme 2019 Inaugural Leadership Lecture.

Govender, who says the high levels of gender-based violence in South Africa demand urgent transformation of the country’s patriarchal, racist, sexist and capitalist society, will focus on transformational leadership in an age of reductive advertising hype and government speeches.

The one-hour lecture on Thursday, 1 August takes place at Kramer LT3, Middle Campus, UCT and will be preceded by registration and snacks from 12:30 to 13:00.
