From the Chair’s desk: Feedback on Council resolutions regarding request for inquiry

Dear members of the campus community

The University of Cape Town Council met on Monday, 10 September 2018. This was a special meeting called to consider a report and recommendations of a committee of Council that considered the request for an inquiry in relation to the passing of Professor Bongani Mayosi. I write to give you feedback on the resolutions of the Council, mindful that every effort must be made to respect the memory of Professor Mayosi.

I attach the resolutions taken by Council for your information. The family and stakeholders are in the process of being consulted in regard to the next steps to give effect to the Council resolutions.

We remain deeply saddened at the loss of Professor Mayosi. His passing was a loss for UCT and our country.
