HELTASA CHE National Excellence in Teaching and Learning Awards

23 March 2018 | From the DVC’s Desk

Dear colleagues

I am writing to alert you to a call for nominations for the National Excellence in Teaching and Learning Awards – the most prestigious national awards in teaching and learning. These awards are hosted by the Higher Education Learning and Teaching Association of Southern Africa (HELTASA) in collaboration with the Council on Higher Education.

As you will see, the 2018 call is broader than usual and does not only include the winners of the university’s own teaching awards. For the 2018 awards, we will set up a dedicated process and use the HELTASA criteria for selection. For next year, we will develop an appropriate process to get the institutional award and the HELTASA award aligned.

Please read the application carefully as incomplete applications will not be considered. Ensure that you are aware of the relevant criteria, which are different from previous calls.

Applications must reach our offices by Wednesday, 2 May 2018, to allow for an internal selection process before submitting institutionally supported candidates to HELTASA on 25 June 2018.

Please send your applications to Cindy Gilbert.

Thank you for participating in this initiative to recognise and showcase good teaching in South Africa.

Sincerely

Associate Professor Lis Lange
Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching & Learning
