#LearnActImpact initiative

21 July 2017

Two of UCT’s massive open online courses (MOOCs) – Becoming a changemaker: Introduction to Social Innovation and Climate Change Mitigation in Developing Countries – have been handpicked by Coursera, the world’s largest MOOC platform, as featured courses on its newly launched #LearnActImpact initiative.

#LearnActImpact aims to address Coursera’s vision to “play a larger role in addressing the social issues that threaten stability around the world.”

The featured courses cover topics such as diversity, inclusion, social justice and global challenges.

Co-created by the Graduate School of Business’s Bertha Centre for Entrepreneurship and social enterprise Reconstructed Living Lab (RLabs), Becoming a changemaker is for anyone who wants to make a difference in society. The course debunks common assumptions around what resources are needed to begin acting as a social innovator.

The Energy Research Centre’s Climate Change Mitigation course challenges participants to consider how one might lift societies out of poverty while also mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.
