UCT executive and student groupings sign agreement

An agreement was signed late on 6 November between the UCT executive and representatives of the SRC Candidates, Shackville TRC group and other student formations.

The agreement focuses on clemency and accountability, an Institutional Reconciliation and Transformation Commission (IRTC) / Shackville TRC, a coherent policy on funding higher education and advocacy for free decolonised education, financial exclusions and fee-blocks, completion of the 2016 academic year and the use of private security and police in managing protests. It also discusses the establishment of a Rapid Response Task Team.
