Excellent students honoured

14 September 2009

The Computer Science Department hosted its annual Merit Awards function on 2 September to recognise excellent students, and to encourage many more to pursue a career in a field which has scarce skills. The top five percent of students were awarded certificates, the top students in each course received class medals, and trophies were presented to the best second-year, third-year and honours students. Associate Professor Sonia Berman, acting head of the department, said this year's function was different because BSG, a business and software solutions company, provided new awards, and that their honours degrees had been accredited by the British Computer Society, meaning that those students are doing a degree of a high standard.
