Science in action: UCT and South Peninsula High School ran a successful interactive Science Day on 5 March.

UCT and South Peninsula High School ran an interactive Science Day at the school on 5 March, attended by hundreds of grade eleven and twelve learners.

Renowned South African scientists ran workshops and interactive exhibitions, sharing their experiences to motivate learners.

Two programmes ran daily, each consisting of a motivational address by a young scientist, workshops, and interactive exhibitions. The wide range of exhibitors and workshops were designed to promote various careers in science.

Besides the UCT science departments (robotics, chemistry, astronomy, and others), other organisations hosted interactive exhibitions, including Iziko Museums (entomology, early mammals, mineral collection, fossil identification), the MTN Science Centre, the SA Weather Bureau, Stone Dragon, and Marine and Coastal Management.
