Change of date for exhibition

17 September 2007

We apologise for any inconvenience but would like readers to note the change of date of the Finding UCT exhibition launch at Centre for African Studies. The opening will now occur on 19 September, 2007 and not during the first week of that month as was previously advertised.

Finding UCT takes a new look at aspects of the University of Cape Town's permanent collection.

The premise of the exhibition is largely to provide a space for students and the public to view both contemporary and more traditional works collected by the university that they might not otherwise get a chance to see. The exhibition traverses notions of domesticity, space, place, gender and personal and historical narratives.

In essence, the show presents a series of unexpected, sometimes even whimsical, moments from the UCT collection.

The exhibition is curated by Linda Stupart and Clare Butcher, and runs in the Centre for African Studies Gallery. It opens on 19 September at 18h00, and closes on 10 October.
