Students net handsome cheques at basketball show

Jammie Plaza was converted into a makeshift playground recently when the Basketball Club hosted its annual three-on-three competition, sponsored by Standard Bank. After a procession of punishing games, it was the team of Emmanuel Chukwuka, Uzoma Correia and Nonkosi Mngxali (each team included at least one woman) who won the day. For their efforts, the side pocketed the R1 500 first prize from Standard Bank. Runners-up Tiroyaone "Nana" Erbynn, Ivo Faustino and Sarah Kurien took home a cheque of R900. In the dunking contest, Pascal Acquaah out-slammed all comers, and earned himself R600 for his high-flying exhibition.
