Top students honoured

31 May 2004

Throngs of family and friends crowded the Barnard Fuller Building for the health sciences faculty's 2003 student awards. It was an opportunity for the faculty to show off and recognise the top students, over 150 of them from the various disciplines and departments, some multiple winners, some sharing top honours, others alone in their accomplishments. Deputy dean Professor Gonda Perez welcomed the prizewinners while Dr Cynthia Sikakana officiated as master of ceremonies. The Medical Protection Society sponsored the prizes and the function. Naushaad shared the Bernard Pimstone Award for best young laboratory investigator in the Department of Medicine with Dr Pierre Redelinghuys.
