Best of the future at UCT

08 March 2004

UCT currently boasts three of the country's P-rated researchers, and 13 with Y-ratings. This, according to the National Research Foundation (NRF), marks them as young (no older than 35) researchers with the potential to become either leaders in their field (the Ps), or (the Ys) the ability to first establish themselves and then become pioneers. Last week, the select 17 (all above, with guests) were toasted by DVC for research, Professor Cheryl de la Rey, at a small bash at the Research and Innovation Office. Here the researchers were able to knock around ideas on publishing, funding and how best to attain that hallowed A-rating.
