Ag pleez won't you buy Sax Appeal

08 March 2004

Students peering into car windows and weaving between the peak hour traffic made it hard to miss their bright red outfits on March 2.

UCT RAG painted the town red last Tuesday when the annual edition of the Sax Appeal, brandishing Bad Boys, alias Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma, was flogged to willing and not-so-willing Capetonians.

With Cape Talk encouraging the city's citizens to "remember and give", over 700 students went out in bright red outfits, dyed hair and painted faces to raise money for SHAWCO. The magazine was sold in the streets all the way from Plumstead to Bellville and Table View.

The Sax Appeal came out just days before RAG invaded the city centre, with the annual floats procession. This year's theme of a Rio Carnival had Adderley Street filled with colour and carnival spirit.
