In yet another tight game this season, the rugby first team went down 15-18 to Tygerberg RFC in gusty, overcast conditions on Saturday, July 26.

Although playing against the wind in the first half, the Ikeys spent plenty of time in their opponents' twenty-two, but could not convert territorial advantage into points. The team trailed 8-18 at the turnaround. A goal late in the second half reduced the deficit to only three points, but, their best efforts notwithstanding, UCT failed to break down the stubborn Tygerberg defence again and the score remained unchanged at 15-18. Anthony Roberts touched down twice for the Ikeys, while Warren Edwards kicked a conversion and a penalty.
