Farewell to respected UCT chemist

17 June 2003
UCT is sad to note the death of well-loved and respected chemistry lecturer Dr Jack Elsworth (74), who died in Cape Town last week after contracting a rare form of septicaemia. Elsworth lectured at UCT for over 30 years and will be remembered by many alumni who passed through his classroom. According to colleague Associate Professor Alan Hutton, crowds in excess of 600 attended Elsworth's popular Christmas lectures. The University extends its condolences to his wife and four children, as well as to his friends and former colleagues. A full obituary will appear in a forthcoming edition.
