The UCT CWC connection continues

THE Kenyan team taking part in the ICC Cricket World Cup brought the final preparations for their February 15 game against Canada at Newlands – which they won – to UCT, enjoying some fielding and net practice in the indoor sports arena.

A familiar face among the visitors was Andrew Kirsten, brother to Gary and Peter, who finished a BSocSci at UCT in 1985. Kirsten, who played for Western Province in the mid- to late-1980s, was appointed as assistant coach to the Kenyan squad early in 2002, specifically to help the side prepare for the World Cup.
