Double fête for UCT staffer

09 December 2002
Beaming buddies: Marilyn Hallett of UCT's Staff Recruitment and Selection office, with her son Jeremy who graduates this week.

FOR Marilyn Hallet of UCT's Staff Recruitment and Selection office, her 20th year at the University will be a special one as this week she gets to toast the graduation of her elder son, Jeremy.

Hallett's scion has successfully completed his BCom degree in accounting, and will pick up his scripts at the same ceremony at which IT magnate Mark Shuttleworth is to be awarded an honorary doctorate.

Jeremy is not quite done with UCT yet, as he will take on the Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (PGDA) next year.

And with an appointment already lined up for 2004, the determined chartered-accountant-in-the-making has his future well worked out.

“What can I say?” beams his proud mother.
