Researchers at the University of Cape Town's African Brain Child (ABC) clinical and translational research unit, based at Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, have launched the ‘Be Quick to Click’ campaign, a road safety initiative tackling traumatic brain injuries in children caused by preventable road accidents. In partnership with the Cape Town Science Centre, the team unveiled the Seatbelt Convincer – an interactive simulator that gives children a physical experience of crash impact, shifting road safety from abstract warning to embodied reality.
Launched at UCT’s Neuroscience Institute on 18 March 2026, the event convened key actors across government, research, and civil society, including the Provincial Minister of Health and Wellness and City of Cape Town safety officials.
