On 13 July 2020, the University of Cape Town (UCT) hosted a challenging conversation focused on whether or not the disruption to the current higher education model can bring about a shift in the centre of gravity in international collaborations and help us to reimagine a different approach that empowers African institutions to take the lead in collaborative projects and partnerships both within and outside the continent. This event was the second in a series entitled Unleashing the new global university.

Prior to the event, we asked people from a range of backgrounds to share their thoughts on the subject. The video includes viewpoints from:

  • Professor Robert E. Hinson
Acting Director, Office of Institutional Advancement, University of Ghana

  • Dr Divine Fuh
Director, Institute for Humanities in Africa (HUMA), UCT

  • Dr Marie Martin
