The Students’ Health and Welfare Centres Organisation (SHAWCO) Blou Maandag (Blue Monday) campaign is aimed at changing people’s negative perceptions of Mondays.
Part of SHAWCO’s 75th anniversary celebrations, the national campaign was launched across the country on Monday, 1 October, with giant blue inflatable SHAWCO hearts being driven around Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
They hope to make people more excited and motivated about the start of the week, while raising awareness about SHAWCO’s ongoing social projects and initiatives.
The call to wear blue every Monday is not only a call to become more socially conscious, but to also support the SHAWCO legacy in South Africa.
