Dear colleagues and students

This morning the South African National Research Network (SANReN), which provides internet access to the University of Cape Town (UCT) and a number of other educational and research institutions, experienced three significant failures in its network.

Service providers are working to rectify the faults as soon as possible, but any additional failure could result in the total loss of internet connectivity for the UCT network. Any such disruption to internet access is not within UCT's control.

UCT's Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) are liaising closely with the Tertiary Education and Research Network of South Africa (TENET) to ensure an uninterrupted internet service to the university.
