On Friday evening a number of tests were disrupted at the Sports Centre. The executive are working with CPS, private security and the SAPS to reassess the situation and maintain safety and security on campus. Course conveners will make alternative arrangements with those students affected by the disruption at the Sports Centre.

Campus remains open for the weekend. The Jammie Shuttle service will be running as scheduled and all libraries will be open.

Vice-Chancellor, Dr Max Price wrote to students acknowledging the significant stresses they are under and re-emphasised the university’s commitment to completing the academic year.

In a statement to UCT students, Vice-Chancellor Dr Max Price said:
“I wish no student to be ignorant about what constitutes unlawful protest behaviour.
Disruption of classes, blocking of entrances or exits, interfering with traffic flow, putting up barricades that prevent people from conducting normal business or attending classes, and any form of intimidation – whether physical or verbal – is unlawful.”
