03 August 2018 | Campus Announcement

Dear students and colleagues

This campus announcement aims to inform members of the University of Cape Town community about:

1. Professor Mayosi funeral service

The funeral service of Professor Bongani Mayosi, the late Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, will be held on Saturday, 4 August 2018, from 08:30 to 13:00 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre 1, halls 3 and 4. Parking is available in P1 and P3. This has been declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral by President Cyril Ramaphosa and is being organised by the Western Cape Government.

Academics who would like to wear their academic gowns are encouraged to do so. Gowns can be collected at Molly Blackburn Hall until 15:00 today and returned on Monday, 6 August between 09:00 and 15:00.

2. Madiba Circle East road closure

Please note that Madiba Circle East (Rugby Road) has been closed from Thursday, 2 August 2018, to Monday, 6 August 2018. This is due to urgent repairs that need to be undertaken on a drain that is on the verge of collapsing near the Sports Centre. No traffic will be able to use the road during this period. Jammie Shuttles from the South Stop will operate as normal.

3. Disruption to eduroam and other services

The Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) network renewal project continues this weekend, with work planned for Sunday, 5 August 2018. The work affects eduroam as well as wired internet connections in some buildings. To minimise any inconvenience, please plan ahead.

4. IRTC assembly postponed

The Institutional Reconciliation and Transformation Commission (IRTC) has issued a statement communicating the postponement of the IRTC assembly and campus road show.

For any queries or contributions and submissions to the IRTC, please contact Candice Amon (Candice.Amon@uct.ac.za).
