UCT executive provides update on response to COVID-19
The University of Cape Town (UCT): has had an increase in both undergraduate and postgraduate applications, will commence the 2021 academic year on 15 March 2021, will propose to Senate for its approval that the first semester be completed online , and has, despite the complexities posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, responded with extraordinary commitment to support each other and complete the academic year.

Reminder: UCT to host VC Open Lecture by UN Deputy Secretary-General on SDGs and a decade of action
University of Cape Town Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng will host Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group Ms Amina J Mohammed, who will present the VC Open Lecture titled “Decade of action for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): So what?”.

South African scientists launch trial to test whether MMR vaccine protects front-line health-care workers against COVID-19
South African scientists from the Universities of the Cape Town (UCT) and Witwatersrand are launching a clinical trial to test whether the childhood vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) can protect front-line health-care workers from COVID-19, or reduce the severity of illness for those who do become infected.

Kresge Foundation funding to boost equitable student outcomes at UCT
