Details around agreement with PASS unions

Dear colleagues and students

Further to the communication issued on 2 March 2026 announcing the agreement reached between the University of Cape Town (UCT) executive and the three unions representing the Professional, Administrative and Support Service (PASS) staff within the bargaining unit (pay classes 2–12), details of the agreement can now be made available.

The parties settled on a 3.5% salary increase for 2026, and a once-off payment to staff in pay classes 2–12. This non-recurrent payment, which will be effected on 25 March 2026, will be covered through the budget allocated for the 2025/2026 exceed awards. The parties have agreed to forego the payment of exceed awards for 2025/2026.
