SRC elections 2025 are here

19 September 2025

Dear students

The University of Cape Town (UCT) Election Commission will host the Students Representative Council (SRC) elections for 2025/2026.

Campaigning for the elections started on 18 September and will continue until 23 September 2025, giving the student body a chance to learn more about the candidates and their vision for UCT.

Voting will take place from 25 to 26 September 2025. All students are encouraged to participate and help shape the future of student governance at UCT.

There will be an SRC Elections Carnival at the Plaza on Thursday, 25 September 2025 from 12:00 to 14:00. Students can find out more, ask questions and celebrate student democracy in action.

Candidates are reminded to follow the rules. Candidates are not allowed to campaign before the dedicated campaign days or during the voting days; and door-to-door campaigning is not permitted in residences. Harassment, intimidation or invading student spaces without consent is strictly prohibited.

If any student notices any misconduct, they can report it by filling out the complaints form.

For more information, please contact the SRC elections desk or the chief electoral officer.

Participation by each and every student strengthens the UCT student community.

Have your say in the future of students at UCT!

UCT Election Commission
