In remembrance: Rhahamodien Allie

21 November 2023

Dear colleagues and students

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our colleague, Mr Rhahamodien Allie (65), on Monday, 13 November 2023. Mr Allie, who was a Campus Protection Services (CPS) protection officer, passed on at the Lentegeur Hospital. He was meant to retire at the end of this year.

Mr Allie joined the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2016. Colleagues will remember him as a
soft-spoken, loving and friendly person. He was a great team player, and has been described as someone who was committed, responsible and always positive. He had the ability to change a bad situation into a good and calm one. He was also known as a private person who was always a pleasure to talk to.

Mr Allie is survived by his three daughters Chimwemwe, Chikondi, Shielah; two sons Sean and Kiyaamodien Jacobs; and brother Azzaar Gaafar Allie. He was buried on Wednesday, 15 November 2023 in Maitland, Cape Town.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Allie family and our sincere condolences go out to them and all who knew and loved him during this time of bereavement.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
