In remembrance: Nokuzola Pearl Lukubeni

26 May 2021

Dear colleagues and students

It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of our colleague Ms Nokuzola Pearl Lukubeni (53) on 10 May 2021. She passed on due to tuberculosis.

Ms Lukubeni was a campus cleaner in the Properties and Services department. She was part of the University of Cape Town (UCT) community for over a decade and was described as a team player and hard worker. She was an employee who made it a point to always be at work early. Colleagues will remember her as soft-spoken and loyal.

Ms Lukubeni is survived by her children Zulema, Noledi and Zukisani, as well as her brothers Xolile, Xolani and Mthuthuzeli.

She was laid to rest on Saturday, 22 May 2021 in the Eastern Cape.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Lukubeni family and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew Ms Lukubeni.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
