In remembrance: Josh Buckley

06 October 2020

Dear students and colleagues

It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of our student Mr Josh Buckley (23) due to cancer on Sunday, 7 June 2020.

Mr Buckley was in his third year of study towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Studies in the Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment.

He was a dedicated student who took pride in his work and has been described as an extraordinary young man who always managed to do the small things that really mattered for people, even if they might have seemed inconsequential. As a determined, goal-orientated person, his passion for life and fairness shone through in all that he did. And his kind, thoughtful, loving and gentle nature made a significant impression on both staff and fellow students.

Mr Buckley is survived by his parents, Mark and Jeanine, and younger brother Sheldon.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Buckley family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew Mr Buckley.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
