In remembrance: Marti-Rose Tinka Nel

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Ms Marti-Rose “Tinka” Nel (53) on Friday afternoon, 10 May 2019. Ms Nel died at the Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Pinelands after a short illness.
At the time of her passing she was a Campus Protection Services (CPS) officer at Burnage House, having joined CPS on 1 November 2017. Her colleagues described her as a hard-working woman who was passionate about her work and always on duty as rostered. They said that she was someone that could be relied on to complete any tasks she was given.
Ms Nel is survived by two children.
She will be cremated on Friday, 17 May 2019, and a memorial service will be held next week on campus on a date yet to be confirmed.
The university is in contact with her family and has reached out to offer support and assistance during this time of grief.
We convey our heartfelt condolences to Ms Nel’s family, friends and all who knew her.
