Bespoke silk squares go on show

Stern on Silk, an exhibition of bespoke organic silk squares designed by Louis Jansen van Vuuren for the La Creuzette Collection, goes on show at the Irma Stern Museum from 18:00 tomorrow, 12 March.

University of Cape Town (UCT) Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng will launch the range of six scarves which were inspired by Irma Stern’s artworks. Jansen van Vuuren, who lives at Château de la Creuzette in France with his partner Hardy Olivier, is a former lecturer at the Michaelis School of Fine Art.

The scarves will be exhibited with some of Stern’s paintings in her former studio at the museum, to which guests are also invited. Following the launch, the scarves will remain on display until the end of March, and orders will be taken.

The exhibition opens tomorrow, 12 March, at 18:00, after which it will be open daily from Tuesdays to Fridays (10:00 to 17:00) and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00. The Irma Stern Museum is at 21 Cecil Road, Rosebank.
