In remembrance: Nqweniso Ralph Ndinisa

07 September 2017 | From the VC's Desk

Dear colleagues and students

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the death of Mr Nqweniso Ralph Ndinisa, who passed away peacefully at his home in Philippi on Monday evening, 4 September 2017. Mr Ndinisa worked for Grounds and Gardens as a gardener’s operator; he was to retire from work in December 2017.

Mr Ndinisa started working at UCT in 1998 under Eco Creations, which later changed its name to The Green Perspective (TGP). He worked for TGP until the landscape contract was taken over by TurfWorks and then he became part of the university’s permanent staff following the insourcing process in July 2016.

Colleagues described him as an outstanding worker and a good friend.

“He did his work without any complaint, was friendly and got along with everyone at work. He will be truly missed and remembered as one of the most dedicated staff members,” said his colleagues.

Mr Ndinisa is survived by his wife, Vuyelwa Ndinisa, two sons and a daughter. His memorial and funeral services have not yet been confirmed.

The university has been in contact with Mr Ndinisa’s family to offer our support in this time of bereavement.

I convey my heartfelt condolences to Mr Ndinisa’s family on behalf of the UCT community. We all share a sense of loss and will be keeping his family and friends in our thoughts during this difficult time.

Sincerely

Dr Max Price
Vice-Chancellor
