Full year ahead for UCT Surgical Society

UCT Surgical SocietySocial Surgeons: Attending a recent neurovascular surgery talk hosted by the UCT Surgical Society were Prof Allan Taylor, Dr David Le Feuvre, Larry Chapman and Daniel Nel.

Trauma surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery and the life of the surgeon are just some of the topics covered this year in lectures and discussions hosted by the student-driven UCT Surgical Society.

Also in the works is the society's annual surgical conference on 14 May. This year's theme is technology in surgery, and conference topics will include laparoscopic/endoscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and other new and innovative ways that surgery is expanding in the new age of technology. A workshop to assist students with patenting their own medical inventions will be run by the company, Medical Devices to Market.

Further Surgical Society activities for 2011 include workshops, courses, research opportunities and shadowing of private and public sector surgeons.
