08 February 2007 | Story by Daniella Pollock

Head student, Faith Dlamini, settles into her room at Graça Machel Residence.

Graça Machel Residence, the new residence on the UCT block, opened its doors on Tuesday to a flood of students eager to settle in.

With some construction still underway, Graça Machel Residence will soon become the home base to 382 first-year and returning women students.

Some 80 of those 382 are temporarily being put up in an adjacent residence, while teams are working around the clock to hasten their speedy return to their rightful rooms.

All sleeping rooms are expected to be completed by the end of next week.
