Events highlight transformation

01 August 2005

In an attempt to increase awareness of transformation issues and to alleviate any stigmas attached to the word and process, the Students Representative Council (SRC) is planning to hold a Transformation Awareness Week from August 1-12.

"We hope to provide a constructive and participative platform for all who work and study here," explained SRC transformation coordinator Andrea Africa. "This project will be a step towards our peers and colleagues being able to tackle important issues our institution and society faces in a proactive manner."

The events planned over the nine-day period are segmented into three themes: the curriculum and our society; women in leadership; and, transformation challenges.

"As well as being a run-up to National Women's Day, the events aim to facilitate social awareness and active engagement with critical aspects of transformation," Africa added.

Events will include discussions, debates, a short seminar, screenings, competitions, and sports demonstrations on the plaza. There will also be invited guests and participants.
