Women's wellness in October

13 October 2003
October focuses on women's wellness, with the entire month dedicated to breast cancer awareness and October 20 featuring as World Osteoporosis Day.

In recognition of these very important health concerns, the Sports Science Institute of SA (SSISA) and Woolworths have joined forces to organise a Women's Wellness Workshop. This will be held at the SSISA Auditorium in Newlands on Monday, October 20.

A panel of experts, including Dr Jenny Edge and Lisa Micklesfield, will help to enlighten women about wellness, with a particular focus on osteoporosis and breast cancer prevention. A breast cancer survivor will also share her story.

The entrance fee for each workshop is R15, with all proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Association and the National Osteoporosis Foundation. The workshop commences at 18h30 for 18h45, and refreshments will be served at interval.

All participants will receive a small treat and will stand to win wonderful lucky draw prizes.

Because of the popularity of these workshops, people are encouraged to book early by e-mailing Bronwyn Brown at bbrown@ssi.uct.ac.za or calling her at (021) 659-5628, or main reception on (021) 659-5600.
