Locked and loaded for Woolies Gun Run?

11 August 2003
On Monday, August 18, the Sports Science Institute will host the second of its three workshops for runners priming themselves for the September 21 Cape Argus Woolworths Gun Run.

At the workshop, this time aimed at women runners, physiologist Dr Lindsay Weight (who had several Comrades wins in the 1980s) will present training guidelines and considerations for women runners, sports scientist Kathy McQuaide will discuss the role of exercise in mental well-being, and dietician Amanda Claassen will look at the special dietary concerns of women on the run.

A panel discussion and display of Woolworths women's active wear will round off the evening.

A lucky draw will take place at the end of the workshop. Prizes include a pair of Adidas shoes, Woolworths vouchers, RunScience vouchers and subscriptions to Runner's World. The workshop will take place at the Sports Science Institute Auditorium in Boundary Road, Newlands, at a cost of R15. This includes delicious refreshments and a goody bag, compliments of Woolworths.

Bookings can be made via Bronwyn Brown on (021) 659-5628.
