The International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO) hosted its second annual Come and See for Yourself programme recently, showcasing its orientation programme for Semester Study Abroad students to academic and administrative staff from a number of universities in Norway, Germany and the United States.

The aim of the Come and See programme was to introduce these visitors to the array of services and facilities UCT and IAPO offer their students, explained IAPO head, Caz Thomas. "By allowing our partner universities to send delegates to observe the orientation, we have a unique marketing opportunity. We also learn from other study abroad programmes, on our own home ground.

"In fact, this year, the delegates told us that they will incorporate some of our ideas to improve their own orientation."

The institutions represented on the Come and See programme were the universities of Bergen, Tuebingen, Davidson College and Southern California. Pictures of some of the activities done on both orientation and the Come and See programme can be viewed on the IAPO website at http://web.uct.ac.za/misc/iapo/ index.htm.
