Who's graduating: pictures emailed around the world

17 June 2003
Pictures of euphoric UCT graduates will be emailed all over the world on Friday June 20 as M-Web and UCT team up again to offer students the opportunity to share their big moment with family and friends - or even the science teacher who said they'd never amount to anything.

First introduced to UCT in 2000, the Internet Photographic Booth will photograph graduates in the Robert Leslie Social Sciences Building after graduation and send the pictures to two email addresses anywhere in the world, at no charge.

When students collect their gowns they will receive a congratulatory card from the Alumni Relations Office and M-Web containing an Internet start-up CD with 14 days' free Internet access.

While the marketing exercise is a potentially valuable one for M-Web, in return UCT is not only able to develop early alumni relationships with graduates but can also gather useful email data for the Alumni Relations Office database.

(The Internet Booth does not replace the official photographic agencies operating at graduation.)
