Many thanks to PPS

22 July 2002
UCT has thanked PPS Insurance Company Ltd for its most recent contributions to the University's coffers, specifically for the nearly R200 000 the company awarded at the end of 2001 for refurbishments at the Kramer Building and Alumni House.

In November last year, PPS, previously known as the Professional Provident Society of South Africa, donated R180 000 for the refurbishment of the Faculty of Law's seminar room, as well as R11 500 for upgrades to the foyer at Alumni House. Last month, University executives gathered with PPS representatives for a small function in the Kramer seminar room where Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wieland Gevers, extended UCT's gratitude to the company.

PPS has been making regular contributions to UCT since 1993, including the funding of a number of student events. In 2001, they also added a sartorial touch to SRC events with the donation of some smart blue blazers to the body's executive members.
