In a historic moment for the University of Cape Town (UCT), Professor Mosa Moshabela was officially inaugurated as the institution’s 11th vice-chancellor on Monday, 25 November. The ceremony, chaired by UCT Chancellor Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe and co-chaired by Chair of Council Norman Arendse SC, was a testament to unity, goodwill, and the shared vision for UCT’s future. The event was held in the presence of dignitaries, academic leaders, and students. It also featured heartfelt tributes from his family and the ceremonial signing of UCT’s Golden Book – a tradition with over a century of history.
Professor Moshabela’s speech reflected humility and determination, emphasising a commitment to collaborative leadership that bridges institutional excellence with personal connection. His installation marked not just a celebration of UCT’s legacy but also a call to action for collective progress.
