Ms Tsakani Maluleke presented the virtual Vice-Chancellor’s Open Lecture on Thursday, 30 September 2021. Her lecture was titled “The role of accountancy professionals in strengthening democracy.”
Maluleke is the first woman to hold the position of Auditor-General of South Africa in the institution’s 109-year history and was also its first Deputy Auditor-General. The lecture highlighted the prevailing and growing levels of poverty, unemployment and inequality in our society that pose significant risks to the stability of our young democracy.
