After a devastating fire affected the Rondebosch campus of the University of Cape Town (UCT) on Sunday, 18 April, nearly 4 000 students had to be evacuated from residences and moved to emergency accommodation around Cape Town.
Gift of the Givers, the largest disaster agency in Africa, along with other corporate companies and volunteers came out to support UCT students affected by the campus fire, through meals and other essential items.
* Interviewees were afforded the choice to either wear masks or not during these interviews. Where interviewees chose not to wear masks, they chose to do so because they were in a well ventilated area, and were also socially distanced from the filming crew. Crew members wore masks at all times.
