Former Miss SA's challenging road to graduation
After a seven-year journey at the UCT which includes overcoming Tuberculosis (TB), former Miss South Africa, Tamaryn Green, will finally graduate with her MBChB on Monday, 23 December.

Transgender UCT graduand reflects on his dysphoria experiences
When Velile Vilane began his decade-long experience as an undergraduate at UCT, he registered as Miss Velile Vilane. When he stepped into the Sarah Baartman Hall at his graduation ceremony he did so as Mr Vilane. And he left the university as Dr Vilane.

UCT GSB graduate brings new born baby to class after surviving eclampsia four days earlier
Rejoice Gorni began her postgraduate studies at the University of Cape Town while she was 16 weeks pregnant. She has now graduated with a postgraduate diploma in management from UCT's Graduate School of Business this December.

South Africa most coal-dependent of all G20 countries
South Africa's energy sector is the most coal-dependent of all the G20 countries. This is according to the fifth annual Brown to Green Report that was released on 11 November 2019. The report also found that SA's per capita greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are some of the highest among the G20 nations.
